Am I Too OId To Learn Guitar?

Most people think you need to start learning to play any instrument at an early age, as a kid for instance, because as a kid you pick up things quickly.

However, if you are in your 30s or 40s, and you wonder if you are too old to start learning to play guitar, I have some good news for you.

When people start rather late (in your 30s or 40s for instance), they have a few advantages going on for them. Since they are quite busy with the family and work, time is more precious than ever.

The ability to focus:

They know exactly what they want and why they want it. With this knowledge comes a skill that most young people born in the 90’s may lack: the ability to focus.

Focus is key! Focus is like a laser beam that breaks through the toughest guitar challenges and cuts through years of bad habits.

Perseverance:

As you get older, you realize that getting really good at something takes time. You are less likely to look for instant gratification and more willing to do the boring work and exercises that make you the guitarist others envy and want to play like.

This is why perseverance crushes talent when it comes to success!

“The successful warrior is the average man, with laser-like focus.” – Bruce Lee

The value of time:

With age comes responsibility, both with family and work. Therefore, you understand the value of time better. Time is precious and should not be wasted, so you will make a priority of the goals you wish to achieve.

Of course, younger people can have these qualities too, but older people tend to be one step ahead here.

Therefore, age is not important.

So, what is really important when you start learning guitar?

Working together with a good teacher.

If you have these qualities and you are willing to work with a great teacher, you may be surprised how quickly you will improve your guitar playing.

Bottom line is: It is never too late to learn music and to learn guitar!
